Deaf Scots swimmer who battled hearing stigma for 17 years to represent Britain at 2017 Deaflympics in Turkey

UK Deaf Sport NewAN INSPIRING deaf swimmer who has battled a hearing stigma for 17 years is one of three Scots selected to compete at the 2017 Deaflympics in Turkey.

Shiona McClafferty, 17, from Lanark, never thought of her partial deafness as a disability – until she arrived in high school and had to explain her condition to her peers and teachers.
