United States FlagMatthew Klotz overcame the flu virus to win three gold medals and two silvers at the Deaflympics held in Samsun, Turkey, July 18-30.

The 2014 graduate of Vista del Lago and current redshirt sophomore at Louisiana State University set two world deaf swim records at the event and also set a meet record in another event, as he turned in a stellar performance despite being ill for the second half of the competition.
