Showing how much they want this third place, Fremont brought a lot of energy to the game compared to Texas. going up by 10, 18-7 midway in the 2nd quarter.  Fremont, like Riverside, was doing a brilliant job containing Dalton Etkie (7 points) and putting him on bench due to three fouls before halftime and continuing to do so the rest of game. A person mentioned to me that Fremont does indeed have more threats than Texas. It was showing as they led 27-15 at the half. Fremont decided to give full-court press a try and they succeeded completely as they went up by 17 from 8 (31-23) with a 40-23 margin before final quarter. Biggest lead was 26, 55-29. Fremont cruised to victory, 61-36. Trace Martin scored 19 to power Fremont. Elonzo Arellano scored 9 in a balanced team scoring in a losing effort.
