This past Saturday, MSSD baseball team had a rare opportunity to face an international opponent. Sungsim School for the Deaf who are from South Korea, came to America to face MSSD. Sungsim grabbing national attention in South Korea from the true story movie "glove" is the biggest hit movie in South Korea (Info on Glove.) Sungsim was able to make this trip possible by the expense of Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) who is doing a real life documentary on the team. Prior to the game on Saturday, MSSD baseball team was able to interact with the players from Sungsim by attending to a Major League Baseball game on Friday, May 13, where they watch the Baltimore Orioles face the Tampa Bay Rays. Fully paid for by MBC MSSD is grateful for the experience that will last a lifetime.
On Saturday, May 14th MSSD faced Sungsim at Gallaudet baseball field at 1pm. The turn out of the game has been one of the best all season. Although MSSD is greatly thankful for all that Sungsim has done for us, the players knew that we had to play the game of baseball to the best of our ability. Model scored first and scored often. Winning the game 13-4, behind strong pitching from Albert Blake and Shane Hagwood. Blake Immellmischo led the way by batting 2-3, a double and a triple and 4 RBI's during the game. The entire team would like to publicly thank Sungsim School for the Deaf for such a great opportunity, and wish them best of luck in the future.
