The National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association (NDIAA) has announced that a new annual award has been established to recognize male and female athletes of the year at Divison I and Divison II levels. The recipients of the athlete of the year award are individuals who are recognized for their accomplishments in academics, organizations, and sports. Todd Bonheyo and Claire Tucker, both recent graduates of Maryland School for the Deaf have been named Division I athlete of the year. Jose Castillo of Wisconsin School for the Deaf and Cindy Siebert of Minnesota State Academy of the Deaf were named Division II athlete of the year. Congratulations to these four fine student-athletes on their much deserved recognition for their success in school and sports.
