      NDIAA announces National Champions

      The National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association (NDIAA) has selected the National Championships for Football, Soccer, and Volleyball for the 2010 fall season.

      Len Gonzales of California School for the Deaf in Fremont who is also the chairperson of NDIAA says "NDIAC is thrilled to announce the results of our 4th annual Fall Sports selections. The committee spent many hours on the selection process on each sport. The time invested was well worth it, for our excellent Deaf schools and fine athletes deserve to be recognized for their hard work, dedication, and achievements."

      Football

      11-man
      National Champions: Maryland School of the Deaf
      Coach of the Year: Paul Kulick – Alabama School for the Deaf
      Player of the Year: Austin Hill – Texas School for the Deaf

      8-man
      National Champions: Wisconsin School of the Deaf
      Coach of the Year: Tommy Varner – Oklahoma School for the Deaf
      Player of the Year: Jose Castillo– Wisconsin School for the Deaf

      Volleyball

      Divsion 1
      Team of the Year: Indiana School for the Deaf
      Coach of the Year: Aimee Bippus, Indiana School for the Deaf
      Player of the Year: Claire Tucker, Maryland School for the Deaf

      Division 2
      National Champions: Minnesota School of the Deaf
      Coach of the Year: Michele Heise – Minnesota School for the Deaf
      Player of the Year: Mia Fernandez – New Mexico School for the Deaf

      Soccer

      National Champions: Lexington School of the Deaf
      Coach of the Year: Frank Wells – Lexington School for the Deaf
      Player of the Year: Angel Ortiz – Lexington School for the Deaf

      Gonzales also added that "The committee would like to thank the Athletic Directors and coaches for their utmost commitment to their athletes’ development, character and talent. The responses to the nomination forms this year has been overwhelming. We also have to recognize everyone as a winner on and off the field. Congratulations on the accomplishments."
